Welcome Students
Overview: This course will encourage you to embrace a cynical and humorous perspective of our brethren in the human race and the world in which we all live. A central theme in the course, albeit frequently deviated from, is the world of higher education; it will more times than not serve as the backdrop for presented material. PLEASE NOTE THAT LECTURES WILL BE OCCASIONALLY SIDETRACKED BY UNRELATED RAMBLINGS OR RANDOM THOUGHTS AS I SEE FIT. By the end of the course, you should (a) become quite cynical of human motives, attitudes, intelligence, and education, (b) spiral ever-so-slightly into a deeper depression, and (c) laugh at others, yourself, and your professor (me).
Readings: To the right of this syllabus, you will find the archive of "LECTURE NOTES" from all previous classes. Also, you're encouraged to browse the "REQUIRED COURSE READINGS" that may be somewhat related to our course topics.
Let the cynicism commence.
